My strengths Worksheet

What are your unique gifts and what makes you special? Discover your strengths with the questions below!

What Do We Mean by "Strengths"?

Strengths aren’t just the things you’re good at—they’re also the things that energize you, that come naturally, or that make you feel alive. They can be skills, qualities, values, talents, or patterns of behaviour that consistently show up in your life. Some strengths are loud and visible, others are quiet but powerful.

Take about 30–60 minutes for this. And if something doesn’t feel comfortable, skip it or come back later. Ready? Let’s begin.

Grab a pen and a paper (or open a doc) and just flow with this. No pressure. No need for fancy words. Just you being honest with yourself.

There’s no right or wrong here. Every little thing you write down is valuable—even if it feels silly, small, or unimportant. In fact, those tiny things often point to your real strengths.

Instructions:

  • Answer every question with at least 3 responses, if possible.

  • If your answer doesn’t feel like a strength, ask yourself:

    • “What helped me do that?”

    • “What quality is underneath this?”

  • Repeating answers? That’s totally fine. Those are likely your core strengths.

  • Once you're done, look through everything and circle patterns or recurring themes.

  • Finish by listing your Top 5 Strengths. Add 1–2 more if you truly feel they’re a part of you, even if they didn’t pop up earlier.

Your Natural Strengths

  1. What are 3 strengths that come to mind right away?

  2. What accomplishments are you proud of? Big or small.

  3. What do you genuinely like about yourself?

  4. What do you do better than most people you know?

  5. What do you love doing? (We usually enjoy what we’re good at!)

  6. What small actions give you joy or satisfaction? E.g., helping others feel welcome, organizing stuff, remembering birthdays.

What Others See in You

  1. What do people often compliment you on?

  2. What would your close friend or partner say are your top 3 strengths?

  3. What do family members admire in you? Think of each person individually.

  4. What do your friends often ask you for help with?

  5. What would your co-workers say are your strengths?

When You Were at Your Best

  1. Which school subjects or college classes did you love? Why?

  2. When have you felt the most alive or energized? What were you doing?

  3. What have you made, built, or created that you feel proud of? From childhood till now.

  4. What personal traits helped you achieve things in your life—big or small?

  5. What situations, events, or teams improved because you were part of them?

Strengths Gained Through Struggles

(Only go as deep as you feel comfortable. Skip anything that feels too much.)

  1. When did you feel different or like you didn’t fit in? What strengths were you hiding?

  2. What tough experiences have you survived? What helped you get through them?

  3. What strengths have come from the challenges you’ve faced?

  4. What have you been told not to “brag” about—even though it's something you're proud of?

  5. When do you think or behave differently from others? What strength might be behind that?

Unusual, Undervalued & Underused

  1. What do you yearn to do? That’s often a hidden strength waiting to show up.

  2. When have you been criticised for something that’s actually a strength? (e.g., being “too curious” or “too energetic”)

  3. What quirky, fun, or unexpected talents do you have?

  4. What strength do you secretly know you have—but avoid using or admitting?

  5. What do you admire in others? Now be honest: where in your life do you already show a bit of that?

Bonus Reflection Prompts (Totally Optional)

  • What values do you live by no matter what?

  • Where in your life do you show up consistently—even when it’s hard?

  • What are you working on getting better at? These may be your strengths in progress.

  • Think of a time you felt confident and “in flow.” What were you doing and how did it feel in your body?

Final Steps

  1. Review all your responses. Circle repeated themes or words.

  2. List your Top 5 Strengths on a fresh sheet or in your notes.

  3. Add 1–2 strengths that you feel strongly about (even if they didn’t come up).

  4. If you’re up for it: write affirmations for your strengths:

    • “I am resourceful and always find a way.”

    • “My curiosity is a gift that helps me learn and grow.”

You’ve just done something powerful. You’ve looked within. You’ve named your strengths. You’ve taken ownership.

Now go use them in your life, in your relationships, in your work.

You’ve got more in you than you realise.
